AI Sound Effect Generator

Describe a sound in plain words and get a ready-to-use sound effect: anything from a 0.5-second click to a 30-second ambient loop, downloaded as MP3.

Examples

Castle door
6s

Heavy wooden castle door creaks open slowly, then slams shut with a deep echo in a stone hall

ElevenLabs SFX v3
0 / 450

Name the source, the action and the space. Several sounds in a row work too: describe them in order.

The model picks a length that fits the sound.

Auto

The end flows back into the start, for background ambience and game loops.

Auto length reserves 12 credits; anything a shorter sound does not use is returned when it is ready

Sound effects for every kind of project

If you can describe it, you can generate it. These are the sounds people make most.

Video edits and YouTube

Whooshes, risers, impacts and pops for transitions, titles and jump cuts, made to the exact length of the cut.

Games

Coin pickups, menu clicks, power-ups, hits and creature sounds. Keep a prompt and change one word to build a matching set.

Film and animation foley

Footsteps on any surface, doors, cloth, glass and props, described the way a foley artist would perform them.

Ambience and background loops

Rain, wind, city traffic, forest at night or a busy cafe. Turn on loop and the sound repeats without a gap.

Podcasts and streams

Stingers, applause, crowd reactions and alert sounds that give a show its own sound.

Apps and interfaces

Notification chimes, success tones, error buzzes and button taps, as short as half a second.

How to write a sound effect prompt

A clear description beats a long one. Five habits that get better results.

  1. 1

    Say what makes the sound

"A wooden door" sounds different from "a steel door". Name the object, the material and the action.

  2. 2

    Say where it happens

Add the space: "in a stone hall", "outdoors in light wind", "close to the microphone". It changes the echo and the background.

  3. 3

    Put a scene in order

Describe several sounds in the order they happen: "an engine starts, tires screech, then a crash". Each one is generated in sequence.

  4. 4

    Use sound design words

Words like whoosh, impact, riser, braam, stinger, foley and ambience are understood and lead to the expected style.

  5. 5

Match the length to the job

Keep one-shots like clicks and hits at 0.5 to 2 seconds. Use 10 seconds or more with loop on for background beds, or leave the length on auto.

Why make sound effects here

A text to sound effects tool with the controls that matter and nothing to install.

Text to sound effects

Type what you hear in your head and get a new sound. No library to scroll through, and no two generations are identical.

Exact length or auto

Set any length from 0.5 to 30 seconds in half-second steps, or let the model choose a length that suits the sound.

Seamless loops

Loop mode makes the end run straight back into the start, so ambience and music beds play on repeat without a click.

Whole scenes in one prompt

Several sounds in one description come out in order, so a full moment like a goal, a cheer and a whistle comes from one generation.

Sound effect generator FAQ

Common questions about making sound effects with AI.

It is a tool that creates a new sound effect from a written description. Instead of searching a sound library, you type something like "glass bottle shattering on a tile floor" and the AI generates that sound for you, at the length you choose.

Describe the sound in the box at the top of this page, choose a length or leave it on auto, turn on loop if it should repeat, and press Generate. The result plays in the page and can be downloaded as an MP3.

Sounds are generated with ElevenLabs SFX v3, released in October 2026. Its parameters and what changed from the previous version are covered on the SFX v3 model page.

You pay for the length of the sound, at 0.4 credits per second, rounded up to whole seconds and then to whole credits, with a minimum of 1 credit. A 2-second sound costs 1 credit, 5 seconds costs 2, 10 seconds costs 4 and 30 seconds costs 12. With auto length, 12 credits are reserved and whatever the finished sound does not use is returned to your balance right away.

From 0.5 to 30 seconds per generation, in half-second steps. For longer ambience, generate a 30-second loop and repeat it in your editor.

Yes. Turn on Seamless loop and the end of the sound connects back to the start, so rain, wind, room tone or a game background can play on repeat without a gap or click.

You can play every example on this page without an account. Generating needs a Veevid account, because each sound effect uses credits, and your sounds are kept in My Creations so you can download them again.

It is built for sound effects and ambience, and it handles short musical touches like a game jingle or a chanting crowd well. For full songs use Text to Music, and for clear spoken lines use Text to Speech.
